About Us

The Faith Community of Saint Sabina

is a Word-based, Bible teaching African-American Catholic Church that believes in the power of praise and worship.

We are a spiritual hospital where all are welcome and invited to "taste and see the goodness of the Lord."

Our purpose is to nurture and develop spiritually mature Christians who are not confined by the walls of the sanctuary, but can penetrate the world in order to present God's way of living as a divine option.

Daughters & Sons by Dr. Maya Angelou

Dr. Maya Angelou at St. Sabina

If my luck is bad
And his aim is straight
I will leave my life
On the killing field.
You can see me die
On the nightly news
As you settle down
To your evening meal.

But you’ll turn your back
As you often do
Yet I am your sons
And your daughters too.

WHEN DO WE SAY ENOUGH?
A Letter from Rev. Michael L. Pfleger
June 19, 2009

WHEN DO WE SAY ENOUGH?

Two more children die in the streets of Chicago and again we shake our heads, wipe our tears and go on.  When will it stop?  When will the lives of our children and the scars their deaths leave in our communities become a concern as important as Wall Street greed or Michael Vick’s dogs?  The stopping of the violence needs a comprehensive response not a band aid solution.

Urge Gov. Quinn to Veto a Dangerous Gun Bill, HB 182!

Urge Governor Quinn to Veto a Dangerous  Gun Bill, HB 182!

House Bill 182, a dangerous bill that will threaten public safety, is now at the Governor’s desk. HB 182 would change Illinois law governing the concealed carrying of handguns and allow a person to carry a concealed handgun into another person's home. Since 1961, Illinois has prohibited the carrying of concealed firearms outside of an individual’s land, abode, or fixed place of business.

Bottom Line - this ia a bad law. Guns in the home increase the chances of homicde, suicide and accidents.

Help Us Stop this bill from becoming law. Please email Governor Quinn today and urge him to veto HB 182!
