Re: THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY WE ARE IGNORING!

Last week we heard that a child lost their life to the “Swine Flu” [influenza A (H1N1)], indeed this is a tragedy. The loss of any life is unacceptable and a loss to us all. But, I am confused with the national response. The whole country was put on notice and everyone from the White House to the church house became involved and outspoken. Emergency steps were encouraged and taken around the country, and schools were closed and information was distributed across the country. Daily briefings were given in Washington and every local city, some churches even changed communion practice and encouraged waving instead of shaking hands at the Sign of Peace. A National Emergency was identified.

My question is why don’t we have the same response, outrage, and emergency action taken in response to the killing of our children across this nation? This weekend the 35th Chicago Public School student, Alex Arellano, was killed. He was beaten, shot, and burned. What kind of society have we become? The murderers are still at large.

Someone knows and someone is hiding them. They are in somebody’s house.
Legislators still close their eyes to easy access to guns and the nation still remains silent. Isn’t the killing of our children a National Emergency? Isn’t the killing of our children worth America becoming alarmed, outraged and called to action as we were with the flu? It’s time to declare a National Emergency over gun violence in America and the killing of our children!
