St. Sabina is, I believe, more than a congregation, but a teaching ground where countless people from around the world pass through our doors and take something with them. It is a ground where denominational walls have been dismantled and racial barriers removed. It is a ground where the Spirit of the Lord has brought freedom and where young and old, wealthy and poor have been welcomed.

The Faith Community of St. Sabina has a rich and powerful history. From its beginning in a storefront on Racine Avenue to the cathedral-like edifice on Throop Street, it has been a gathering place of faithful believers and a canvas where God has chosen to paint His glory and shower His blessings. Perhaps most of all, it has been a meeting place where God has inhabited the praise of His people and where we have embraced His awesome presence.
St. Sabina has sought to be a voice in the city and nation in order to provide the world with the divine option of God. It has been a living testimony that following Jesus demands being doers of His Word. But perhaps most of all, it has been a place where we have sought to give God pure worship in spirit and truth, and model to all who enter our doors the priority and necessity of being worshipers first, and entering into His presence.

IT IS A HOLY GROUND! – a spiritual hospital whose arms extend to all and, who sees the land and the lives outside its doors as its mission field.

As we prepare for the coming millennium, I pray that each one of us will have an urgency with us to reach souls for Christ, a hunger and thirst in us for God and a boldness in us to be “aggressively Christian”: presenting the witness of Christ in the workplace, the marketplace, the blocks in which we live and the schools we attend; presenting the world with the option of Jesus Christ and the standard of His Word. I pray that in doing so, the abundant blessings of God will fall upon us and be a manifestation to all, of God’s unconditional love for His children and their faithfulness
