January 17, 2014 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- With the Martin Luther King holiday coming up Monday, his life was commemorated in Chicago Friday night.
Fifty years ago on Friday, Dr. King was welcomed by Chicago's Temple Sholom.
On Friday, the choir from Trinity United Church of Christ performed there in his honor.
And Mayor Rahm Emanuel joined Father Michael Pfleger in lighting downtown buildings blue to honor Dr. King's work for peace.
