    St. Sabina Church hosted the 5th Annual Peace Basketball Tournament in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on Sept. 17, 2016, when teams from different blocks came together to play one another. Director Spike Lee, former Detroit Pistons star Isiah Thomas, and former DePaul University and Pistons star Mark Aguirre were among those in attendance.

    With a purpose to nurture and spiritually develop, Father Pfleger and The Faith Community of St. Sabina have become a leaders and a model for faith-based communities using sport to “penetrate the world in order to present God’s way of living as a divine option” by not being “confined by the walls of the sanctuary.”
